Introduction:

It’s September and everyone in Holbrook is talking about the same three things; school sports, the county fair, and the weeds around Family Dollar.

In this newsletter you’ll find:

  1. An updated list of upcoming events.

  2. We try and answer some common questions about the County Fair (that we’ve seen online).

  3. A featured adoptable pet of the week from the animal shelter.

Upcoming Events in Holbrook, AZ:

September 6: HHS Varsity Football at Winslow. (This is the game that has potential consequences for the Mayor haha)

September 7: Historical Society Locomotive Exhibit Dedication/Grand Opening.

September 7: Farmers and Artisan Market hosted by the Historical Society.

September 10: HHS Volleyball (home) vs Alchesay. 4:30, 5:30, 6:30

September 11-14: Navajo County Fair

September 21: NPC’s Pedal the Petrified.

September 28: Hashknife Golf Tournament.

County Fair Breakdown

Hey Holbrook tries to consolidate information and put it in one place. For in-depth information, we recommend going straight to the source. For online access to the fair book, events, and more we recommend going to the official Navajo County Fair website.

For information about rides or to even buy unlimited-ride wristbands online we recommend going to Frazier Show’s website.

Here are some questions we’ve seen online:

  • How much are the unlimited-ride wristbands at the fair? $28.99 (that includes the $1 online purchase fee - see link above to purchase online). But unlimited wristbands can only be used during certain hours. Those are hours being Wednesday 6-9pm; Thursday 6-9pm; and Sunday 1-4pm.

  • How much is entry into the Rodeo? Rodeo entry stays the same at $15 for general admission. Remember, they will look for admission into the fair as well - that costs $5.

  • How much is entry into the Derby? Similar to the rodeo where it is $10 for general admission and you’ll need a ticket from the fair which costs $5.

  • What bands are playing this year? Here’s a lineup we found online:
    9/11 - High Lonesome followed by Main Street
    9/12 - Hailey Green Band
    9/13 - Ronny and the Redwoods
    9/14 - Kenny Fielder followed by The Cowboy Killers

Featured Adoptable Friend

Meet Milo (2 years old, Male, pitbull) Super friendly! He knows commands like sit. Milo is good with other dogs, but needs a slow introduction around hyper dogs. He’s ok with them once he gets to know them. He just doesn’t like to be picked on. (Who does?!) No adoption fee. Adoption includes: neuter, deworming, microchip, city license, and vaccination.
